Senior Project Architect Steve Valev, NCARB, has worked across the Arizona landscape for more than 30 years, developing a deep interest in urban design and the social, cultural, and political forces that shape place. Steve approaches each project as an opportunity to uncover unique solutions that respond to a site’s distinct character and potential. He is well versed in working across multiple scales and typologies—from urban design and site development to environmental graphics and pedestrian infrastructure. Steve’s commitment to the profession extends beyond his day-to-day practice. For 15 years, he has taught graduate-level design studios at The Design School at Arizona State University, mentoring students and emerging designers at his alma mater. He is also dedicated to exploring art, culture, and architecture independently, examining how narrative, imagination, and the idea of the "other" can unexpectedly evoke the sublime in architecture and city-making.
