Multistudio has been named the 2025 Best of Practice winner in the XL firm category for the Midwest by The Architect's Newspaper.

As the design industry reflects on how firms operate, from employee ownership to sustainability commitments, The Architect's Newspaper's Best of Practice Awards recognizes practices that display dynamic leadership, cultural integrity, and social impact. The jury evaluates submissions based on aesthetic excellence, internal culture, and a demonstrated alignment between values and practice.

With 150 employee-owners working across Kansas City, Lawrence, Phoenix, San Francisco, and New Orleans, Multistudio is a collective of architects, planners, interior designers, researchers, and brand strategists working across disciplines and cities. Our name signals the multiplicity of perspectives, skills, and the communities we serve.

Although our studio's portfolio spans typologies we maintain a consistent emphasis on research, sustainability, and collaboration that begins with the communities that we serve.

We also reject a singular aesthetic. Our work looks different from place to place because our communities are different. That adaptability is not a lack of identity—it is our identity. At Multistudio, design is not a style. It’s a practice of listening, questioning, and caring. This recognition highlights the studio's dedication to designing for people, place, and long-term impact, utilizing design as a tool to foster equitable and resilient communities.

“As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, this recognition affirms what we've been building toward, an inclusive and collaborative practice that's embedded in purpose and rooted in place," said Bridget Lowe, Principal at Multistudio. "We believe aesthetics and ethics are intertwined; our values shape what we design, how we collaborate, and the communities that we serve. And as a voracious reader and longtime admirer of Architect’s Newspaper, it is all the more thrilling to see Multistudio recognized in its pages.”
