Working alongside Madeline Herrera’s first and second-grade classes at the Limestone Community School, our design team in Lawrence helped pilot an initiative to build homes for those experiencing homelessness.
It began when Ms. Herrera’s class posed a no-frills question…’ what if?’ The what-if turned into ‘what if everyone had a home,’ and the outcome has been incredible.
Our team is working alongside students and teachers to draft blueprints. Lawrence Community Housing Trust Tenants to Homeowners is a local nonprofit that helps families become homeowners and has graciously donated the land where the homes will be built.
Limestone Community School is planning a groundbreaking for late August, and the goal is to have the first home built by April 2024.
